THE EVALUATION SET
满则亏

The Evaluation Set, based on the siphoning principle, visualizes the transition from fullness to emptiness by the loss of water. The siphon tube is set at the half height, below which, the water inside can be stored and the cup works as usual. Once the water level exceeds this halfway point, all the liquid drains out through the tube.

Be aware of the desire of filling-up, yet it remains possible to refill in the right way.

THE DELIBERATION SET
亏则满

The Deliberation Set, on the contrary, presents how a little emptiness can bring a full and satisfying result. It draws inspiration from Kwak beer glass and large juice boxes, and refers to the splashing effect caused by the air pressure disruption. The small hole of each container limits the water lever inside and the orientation of use for subtly enhancing the Yin-Yang Philosophy when getting a cup of water without spilling.

Accidents can occur to the perfect surfaces even when they are naturally cooling down, just like life.

THE YIN-YANG TRAY
阴阳托盘

This Yin-Yang tray is actually a bonus during the ideation and prototyping process of the project. It was intended to hold the containers so that the overflowing water wouldn’t make it in a mess.In consideration of the scale and production, the plan was put on hold, while its bisque pieces were later used to test different glazes for better results.

[POSTSCRIPT]
Full-Empty Flow is a second attempt of Yin-Yang products. The interchange between fullness and emptiness suggests that it won’t be stuck in any extreme and can always be refilled even if fully empty, which exactly shows how Yin-Yang works to my life. While it is expected to precisely convey Yin-Yang culture, the project allows for various personal interpretations—you can simply see them as fun cups.
